In a recent study conducted by Moving to Spain, Portugal has emerged as the top retirement haven in Europe. The comprehensive ranking evaluated countries based on a variety of factors
including cost of living, real estate prices, life expectancy, safety, the percentage of the population aged 65 and above, healthcare quality, beach excellence, and visa accessibility.
Within Portugal, the allure of the southern Algarve region, with its breathtaking beaches and abundant sunshine, has positioned it as the quintessential choice for retirees seeking an idyllic destination.
Furthermore, Portugal has garnered recognition as the global leader in wine tourism according to a new report by Bounce. This distinction was determined based on a range of criteria including wine production and consumption, availability of wine tours, density of vineyards, and the average price of a bottle of wine. The report highlights that over 2% of Portugal's total land area is dedicated to vineyards.
Alda Filipe, the Sales and Marketing Director at Kronos Homes, commented on the appeal of Portugal for retirees. She stated, "For those contemplating retirement, the allure of an affordable and vibrant outdoor lifestyle, complemented by abundant sunshine and exceptional wine, represents an ideal combination. Portugal embodies all these qualities and more. The nation boasts safety, warmth, and a diverse array of picturesque landscapes waiting to be explored.
