Europe is sweltering under a record-breaking heatwave, with Spain bracing for temperatures up to 47°C this weekend. A tourist has already died from heatstroke in Mallorca, as Saharan heat

spreads across the continent.

Spain’s previous record of 47.4°C may be matched or surpassed in coming days. Meteorologists predict highs of 45–47°C in the south through next Wednesday. Residents are urged to stay indoors and avoid physical exertion.

Britain is also on alert, expecting up to 36°C amid a rare amber heat health warning across southern and eastern regions. The UK could see its hottest June day in history.

Meanwhile, Greece is battling massive wildfires fueled by extreme heat and strong winds. In Palaia Fokaia near Athens, 130 firefighters with aerial support are fighting flames that threaten homes and force evacuations. Fires have also erupted on the island of Chios, prompting a state of emergency.
