Poland. In the first half of 2023, the country registered over 238,000 new passenger cars, indicating a remarkable twelve percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
The report presented by PZPM and KPMG showcased the robust performance of Poland's automotive sector during the initial six months of 2023. The rise in new passenger car sales was particularly noteworthy, contributing to the industry's positive outlook.
According to the study, institutional customers played a significant role in driving this growth, as they registered more than 172,000 passenger vehicles during the first half of 2023, signifying a substantial 15.6 percent surge compared to the corresponding period in 2022. Individual customers also showed a steady interest, registering 66,000 new vehicles, resulting in a commendable annual increase of 4.7 percent.
The premium+ car segment experienced remarkable expansion as well, with a remarkable 18.7 percent year-on-year growth in sales. Both institutional investors and individual customers contributed to this growth, with a 15.1 percent rise (47,600 cars) and an impressive 38.8 percent surge (10,400 cars) respectively.
PZPM's CEO, Jakub Faryś, expressed satisfaction with the industry's performance, stating that the first half of 2023 could be considered a success. He highlighted the substantial growth in new registered cars, especially among institutional customers, which indicated a positive business sentiment and a thriving economy.
Moreover, the automotive factories in Poland also witnessed significant progress during this period, producing nearly 306,000 vehicles, representing a remarkable 42.7 percent year-on-year increase.
The study also shed light on the increasing popularity of alternative-engine cars in Poland. Between January and June 2023, the country registered 102,000 new alternative-engine vehicles, marking a notable 24 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.
