On March 20, 2025, Poland’s Sejm (lower house of Parliament) approved a resolution on national security, supporting the European Parliament’s initiatives and emphasizing the importance of
the "East Shield" defense program.
The resolution, introduced by the ruling Civic Coalition (KO), passed with 220 votes in favor and 171 against. The conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party and the far-right Confederation opposed the measure.
The resolution calls for increased EU defense cooperation and stronger NATO engagement, aligning Poland more closely with European security strategies.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk took to social media to condemn the opposition's stance, stating:
"They had a choice: support the resolution or disgrace. They chose disgrace, and we still passed it."
