Jarosław Kaczyński, the chairman of Poland's ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, has raised alarm on Independence Day, accusing the European Union of plotting a "German plan" that could

lead to the "annihilation of the Polish state." Kaczyński, speaking at a ceremony marking Poland's independence, claimed that the incoming government, comprising opposition parties, is aligned with this alleged plan and urged Poles to "fight, fight and fight again" to resist it.

He asserted that the plan being devised would not only strip Poland of its independence and sovereignty but could lead to the complete destruction of the Polish state, turning it into a territory ruled from outside. Kaczyński emphasized the need for significant efforts to thwart this process, stating, "We Poles want to be free and independent! We do not want to be subordinated to Germany, because this is, in fact, a German plan… We cannot be the generation that capitulates."

Referring to the recent coalition agreement signed by opposition groups, Kaczyński claimed that the coalition is led by a German party and warned of a tough fight ahead. He called for the prevention of a repeat of historical events where Poland lost its independence over 200 years ago.

Political scientist Anna Materska-Sosnowska expressed concern over Kaczyński's words, describing them as "dangerous, destructive, and very sad." She suggested that the PiS leader's statements indicate a refusal to accept election results and hinted at the possibility of civil unrest. Materska-Sosnowska also noted that Kaczyński might use these assertions to portray Poland as being turned into an EU puppet as the new opposition-led government aims to improve relations with Brussels.
