Citizens of Slovenia, Greece, Denmark, and Cyprus can now travel to China without needing a visa. In a recent decision, China has waived visa requirements for

nationals of these countries, allowing them to stay in the country for up to 15 days without prior visa approval.

This move is part of China's broader effort to ease entry restrictions for European countries. Citizens from Slovenia, Greece, Denmark, and Cyprus can now enter China visa-free for short-term visits. These trips can be for various purposes such as tourism, business, visiting family and friends, or transiting through the country, according to Schengen.News.

The announcement of visa exemptions for Slovenian citizens came after a meeting on September 25 between Slovenia’s Foreign Minister, Tanja Fajon, and her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi. Fajon welcomed the decision, highlighting the positive bilateral relations between Slovenia and China, particularly in economic cooperation. She emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue, especially in today’s polarized global climate.

"We are building on positive relations between Slovenia and China through various activities, especially economic cooperation. I also welcome the decision to abolish visas for Slovenian citizens, which we have consistently advocated for. In a deeply polarized world with many armed conflicts, cooperation is essential. It is important to engage in dialogue, even if we don’t always agree," stated Fajon.

Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister, also announced a similar visa exemption for Greek nationals, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.

Visa-Free Entry for Denmark and Cyprus

Additionally, China has removed the visa requirement for Danish nationals, following discussions between the foreign ministers of China and Denmark. China views Denmark as a key strategic partner in Northern Europe, with relations between the two countries playing a leading role in China’s engagement with Nordic nations.

"China has decided to implement a visa-free policy for Denmark. We welcome more Danish friends to visit China and hope Denmark will introduce more convenient measures for Chinese nationals visiting Denmark," said Wang Yi in a press release.

Similarly, Cypriot citizens are now able to travel to China without needing a visa. The Cypriot government spokesman, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, hailed the visa waiver as a reflection of the growing bilateral relations between Cyprus and China.

Earlier in September, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that Norwegian citizens are also eligible for visa-free entry to China for stays of up to 15 days.
