As summer vacations commence for nearly everyone in the Netherlands, including the Northern region, the long-anticipated warm weather is on the horizon.

Despite July's less-than-ideal conditions, August promises a change.

The first half of July has been notably wet, with some areas in the southeast surpassing 100 mm of rainfall, compared to the typical national average of 79 mm for the entire month. This trend of excessive rain has been persistent since last August.

However, a shift in weather patterns is expected starting in August. According to Weeronline, the upcoming months will bring improved conditions. Rainfall will decrease, and temperatures will rise to a comfortable 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. While sunshine will be more prevalent, occasional showers may still occur.

This favorable forecast bodes well for holidaymakers. Weeronline predicts that the start of August will usher in more typical summer weather, with less precipitation and temperatures around or slightly above normal. Inland areas could see summer highs of 25 degrees or more. Following this period, the likelihood of rain will gradually increase again. Photo by Midden Beemster, Wikimedia commons.
