The Czech Republic continues to uphold its reputation as one of Europe's safest countries, despite a slight drop in its ranking compared to the previous year.
According to the latest crime and safety ranking by Numbeo, the Czech Republic secured the 12th position out of 43 European nations surveyed. While this represents a minor decline from its 10th-place ranking in 2023, the country remains notably safer than many of its neighbors.
Numbeo's Crime and Safety Index is based on public surveys, assessing individuals' perceptions of safety during the day and night, as well as their concerns regarding specific crimes such as mugging or harassment. Scores are assigned on a scale of zero to one hundred, with lower scores indicating lower crime rates.
In contrast to France, which received a score of 55.3, categorizing it as the least safe country in Europe, the Czech Republic achieved a significantly lower rating of 26.8. Moreover, the Czech Republic scored a reassuring 73.7 on the safety index.
Remarkably, all of the Czech Republic's neighboring countries ranked lower in the safety index. Austria secured the 13th position, followed by Poland at 14th, Slovakia at 15th, and Germany at a distant 27th.
