Sweden Democrats leader questions integration of 'fundamentalist Muslims' In an interview with Göteborgs-Posten (GP), Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson supported recent comments
by party colleague Richard Jomshof that there is an "Islamisation of Sweden".
He argued that more "fundamentalist" Muslims cannot be considered fully integrated Swedes. Although he acknowledged that one can be Muslim in Sweden, he claimed that being a "fully practicing Muslim" and a fully integrated Swede is not possible, as it leads to increased division and values that are not associated with modern society.
According to Åkesson, the order in which one places their identities matters, and putting the Muslim identity at the top makes it difficult to have a fully Swedish identity. Photo by Per Pettersson from Stockholm, Sweden, Wikimedia commons.
