According to a study by the University of Liège, employment at Liège airport has increased by 26% in three years, with almost 11,000 jobs identified in 2021. Of these

jobs, 5,100 are direct employment, compared to 4,726 in the previous year and 3,250 in 2016. The airport has 158 companies involved in its activities, up from 145 in 2018, with ASL Airlines, Challenge, FedEx, and Protection Unit among the largest employers.

Additionally, Alibaba's logistics subsidiary Cainiao has a significant presence at the airport. The study found that 97% of employees have permanent contracts, with 84% employed full-time. The majority of employees (81.9%) come from the province of Liège, but the airport attracts workers from across Wallonia and even from Flanders (3.6%).
