Heineken has unveiled plans to invest $2.8 billion (approximately €2.6 billion) in a series of initiatives across Mexico, according to Oriol Bonaclocha, head of the company's Mexican operations.
A significant portion of the investment will fund the construction of a new brewery in the southeastern state of Yucatán. Initially, the facility will be capable of producing 4 million hectoliters of beer annually, with potential for that capacity to double over time based on demand.
Details on how the full investment will be distributed beyond the Yucatán project have not yet been released.
The announcement follows a similar move by Grupo Modelo, which in April committed over $3.6 billion (€3.3 billion) to expansion efforts in Mexico. Grupo Modelo is known for producing popular Mexican beers and the global brand Corona. Photo by Brodie319, Wikimedia commons.
