Polish and Ukrainian officials are scheduled to convene at the shared border on Monday in an attempt to bring an end to a week-long protest by truck drivers obstructing checkpoints.
The Polish truckers have been demonstrating against new regulations, blocking the Polish-Ukrainian border since November 6.
On November 13, representatives from the Ukrainian Ministry for Development of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure will engage in a border meeting with their Polish counterparts to collaboratively address the protest.
The Ukrainian ministry has invited members from Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure, local government officials, representatives from the European Commission Directorate for Mobility, Ukrainian embassy staff in Poland, and members of the Polish Committee to Protect Transporters.
Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach is expected to lead the discussions on the Ukrainian side. Both Poland and Ukraine are actively working to resolve the issue. Following talks between Derkach and Rafał Weber, State Secretary at Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ukrainian side has already addressed two concerns raised by the protesting Polish truckers. Tomasz Borkowski, one of the protest organizers, stated that while trucks would continue to be blocked, humanitarian and military aid for Ukraine would be permitted to pass through.
