Germany will provide an extra €100 million ($111 million) in winter aid to Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced during a visit to Moldova on Tuesday.
Baerbock warned that Russia is once again preparing for a "winter war" aimed at making life as difficult as possible for the Ukrainian people. Her remarks came ahead of a ministerial conference in Chisinau.
Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure, including power stations, leading to rolling blackouts in some areas of the country. In June, Ukrainian officials emphasized the need for more air defenses to facilitate repairs to critical infrastructure ahead of the winter months, when energy demand spikes due to freezing temperatures.
