The prices for the small beach huts in Hoek van Holland have surged in recent years. A 15-square-meter hut now sells for up to €250,000, excluding the annual €6,000 fee for winter storage,

as these "strandhuisjes" can only be used from April to September, according to Rijnmond.

Situated along the edge of the dunes on Hoek beach, these beach huts are closely packed and feature a small bathroom, kitchen, and sleeping area, along with a tiny front terrace. Owners can enjoy beachfront living and picturesque sunsets over the ocean.

The most expensive hut on Hoek van Holland beach is priced at €250,000, while the average price is around €150,000, depending on the furnishings and condition, the broadcaster reports. This marks a significant increase from a few years ago. “Seven years ago, they were really not that expensive,” one owner remarked. “We paid around €60,000 for them then.”

Many people find these high prices unreasonable. “For that money, I would rather buy a large beach house somewhere abroad,” a woman told the broadcaster. Another passerby described the price as “ridiculous” for such a small house. Photo by kees torn, Wikimedia commons.
