In East Flanders, the federal road police halted a Flixbus traveling from France to Brussels on Thursday morning following a report from a passenger who claimed to have overheard plans for

an attack. According to De Standaard, the passenger alerted the police after hearing three men on board discussing a potential attack.

Justice Minister Paul Van Tichelt's office confirmed that the Flixbus was stopped due to suspicions of a terrorist motive. Federal police spokesperson An Berger acknowledged the report received during the morning, where the passenger expressed concerns about three men planning an attack. The investigation, including interrogations and examinations of the bus, will determine the nature of these suspicions.

"The East Flanders public prosecutor's office will investigate this further," stated Berger. The bus was rerouted to the federal road police's traffic post in Wetteren, with a secured perimeter and specialized units summoned. The ongoing investigations involve external and internal examinations of the bus, along with scrutiny of the passengers. Photo by MichaSpa, Wikimedia commons.
