Zurich Airport experienced a notable rebound in October as the number of passengers reached pre-pandemic levels for the first time. A total of 2.87 million passengers traveled through the
airport during the month, marking a significant 19% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge in passenger volumes represents 99.9% of the October 2019 figure.
The airport reported a new daily record on October 8, with 110,148 passengers. Notably, the number of passengers on European flights exceeded pre-crisis levels, while intercontinental travel remained at around 93% of the 2019 figure. The increase in air traffic was attributed to the fall holiday season, a traditionally busy period for the aviation industry. Photo by dxme from Schweiz, Wikimedia commons.
