Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, arrived in Finland on Wednesday to discuss military aid and sanctions to support Ukraine's ongoing war with Russia, as well as the country's relations

with Europe. Zelenskyy referenced Finland's Winter War against Russia in 1939-1940, where it managed to defeat the much larger Russian forces, and compared it to Ukraine's current fight. The Nordic summit included the prime ministers of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland, and focused on Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the Nordic countries' support for Ukraine, and Ukraine's relationship with the EU and NATO.

Zelenskyy is expected to have bilateral meetings with each of the Nordic prime ministers and will attend a joint press conference. The Ukrainian president's visit to Finland was announced only after his arrival amid tight security in the Finnish capital. Finland recently joined NATO in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and Russia has since warned that it will take counter-measures to protect its national security.
