The Flemish government has contributed €200,000 to Red Cross Flanders International to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.
The announcement was made on Sunday morning by Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele. The donation will fund awareness campaigns and training programs to educate residents in conflict zones about the dangers of unexploded ordnance, such as landmines and other war remnants.
“This financial support will help the Red Cross share its expertise on the ground, ensuring that unexploded devices do not cause additional casualties in the ongoing conflict,” Diependaele stated.
Unexploded ordnance continues to endanger civilians and aid workers in regions impacted by recent fighting. Through awareness and training, communities will be better equipped to identify and manage these hazards safely.
