Germany's opposition conservatives, the Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU), have reached their highest nationwide poll rating in three and a half years, according to
a weekly survey by INSA for Bild am Sonntag. The CDU/CSU rose to 33%, up from 31% the previous week.
The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) holds second place in the poll with 19% of voting intentions.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democrats (SPD) have dropped to 14%, while their coalition partners, the Greens, are at 10%, and the Free Democrats (FDP) are at 4%. Together, the three-party coalition would receive just 28% of the vote, marking their weakest showing since they took office in December 2021.
Meanwhile, the leftist Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) remains steady with 10% of the vote, unchanged from the previous week. Photo by Michael Lucan, Wikimedia commons.
