A fast-moving wildfire in France's southern Aude region has claimed the life of one person, local authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Aude prefecture reported that the blaze was advancing "very quickly," prompting the deployment of 1,820 firefighters in efforts to contain it. Approximately 2,500 homes in the region are currently without electricity due to the fire.
President Emmanuel Macron announced on X (formerly Twitter) late Tuesday that all available government resources are being mobilized to combat the wildfire and support affected residents. Photo by Salam2009, Wikimedia commons.
