While many travelers choose to take their holidays in the summer, others find autumn to be the ideal season for exploring Europe. With fewer crowds, more affordable

prices, and milder weather, autumn offers a perfect backdrop for sightseeing. The vibrant colors of the season enhance the landscape, and even though the days are shorter, the cozy evenings have a charm of their own.

Recently, the British newspaper The Telegraph published a list of the best European destinations to visit in autumn, and Dubrovnik, one of Croatia’s most beloved cities, earned a spot on the list.

According to The Telegraph, Dubrovnik is a wonderful place to visit during the fall, offering clear blue skies and gentle sunshine, without the overwhelming summer crowds. Visitors can start their day at the local morning market, which is filled with seasonal produce like mandarins, pomegranates, and dried figs.

Afterward, a stroll along the city’s magnificent medieval walls is a must, followed by a stop at Gianni, a well-known artisanal ice cream and pastry shop, for a homemade treat. For those looking to venture beyond the city, the Pelješac peninsula offers a unique experience with its wine tastings, as the grape harvest is in full swing during autumn. Back in Dubrovnik, the Good Food Festival (running from October 7th to 20th, 2024) features cooking workshops, special menus, and guided culinary tours.

In addition, The Telegraph recommends visiting nearby Lopud Island, home to the Lopud 1483 resort, which was once a Franciscan monastery and has been beautifully restored by Baroness Francesca von Habsburg.

Aside from Dubrovnik, the list includes other top autumn destinations, such as:

Amsterdam

Barcelona

Berlin

Bruges

Budapest

Copenhagen

Edinburgh

Florence

Lisbon

London

Madrid

Paris

Prague
