Polish cinemas experienced a substantial growth in attendance in 2023, selling a total of 50.3 million tickets, marking a remarkable 16% increase compared to 2022. Industry estimates

revealed that popular films like "Barbie," "Puss in Boots," and "Oppenheimer" played a significant role in driving box office success.

The attendance figures for 2023 were disclosed by Helios, a leading chain of multiplex theaters in Poland. The total ticket sales of 50.5 million included approximately a million admissions for "non-movie events," such as live broadcasts of sporting events, opera plays, and theater performances, as reported by the Parkiet website on Thursday.

Film ticket sales accounted for 48.5 million admissions, generating a revenue of PLN 920 million (EUR 211.5 million), according to estimates from industry experts. The 2023 box office in Poland was dominated by Hollywood blockbuster "Barbie," leading with 2.8 million tickets sold, followed by the US-UK biopic "Oppenheimer" in third place with 1.9 million admissions. The US animated film "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" secured the second spot with 2.4 million tickets sold, as outlined by Parkiet.
