Italy to Vote Against Proposed EU Ban on Petrol and Diesel Cars by 2035.

Italy's Energy Minister, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, announced on Tuesday that Italy intends to vote against European plans to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2035. The European Parliament recently approved new rules that require car manufacturers to achieve a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions from new cars sold by 2035, effectively making it impossible to sell new fossil fuel-powered vehicles in the 27-country bloc.

In a statement, the Energy Minister said, "Tomorrow in Brussels, at the meeting of ambassadors of EU countries, Italy will express a position against the proposed European regulation banning the production and sale of cars and vans with internal combustion engines by 2035."
