The School of Management and Economics at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa has initiated a fundraising campaign aimed at constructing a new campus in Lisbon.
The ambitious construction project, slated to commence by the year's end, entails an investment of €120 million. This substantial sum will finance the development of two new buildings and the renovation of existing structures and surrounding areas.
The expansion project intends to significantly augment the size of one of the new buildings to accommodate the academic activities of the faculty, which currently serves approximately 2,400 bachelor's and master's degree students. The second building will house various university and administrative services, alongside a conference center and an innovation and technology hub. Director Filipe Santos of the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics envisions accommodating up to 4,500 students within five years, particularly in master's degree programs.
Dubbed 'Veritati,' the new campus will rely on private investments and university-generated revenue for its €120 million budget. With an initial €16 million successfully secured from private investors, the university is launching the "Together We Shape the Future" initiative to further engage civic society. According to Santos, this campaign will enter a more public phase, featuring activities aimed at strengthening the university's alumni network.
Moreover, Santos highlighted that the investment will not only facilitate the growth of the School of Management and Economics but also enhance other areas of the Catholic University in Lisbon. The expansion is expected to increase the usable area of the Lisbon campus by 50 percent, benefitting numerous students aspiring to study at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
