On October 18, 2023, three distinguished Polish universities received nominations for the prestigious Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award in the Engineering & Technologies category.
These esteemed institutions include Gdańsk University of Technology, located on the Baltic coast, Jagiellonian University of Kraków in southern Poland, and Opole University of Technology situated in the southwestern region. These universities have long been pillars of research and higher education in Poland.
The Elsevier award stands as a symbol of excellence, aiming to promote research and scientific advancement. It is granted by Elsevier, a prominent scholarly publishing company that annually compiles a list of the top 2% of the most influential researchers worldwide. Elsevier is also renowned for owning Scopus, the world's largest scientific publication database.
Recipients of this award, such as the nominated universities and research institutions, are recognized for their significant contributions to scientific research and their role in enhancing the global visibility of Polish science. Professor Grzegorz Królczyk, the Vice-Rector for Science and Development at Opole University of Technology, expressed immense pride on behalf of the university for receiving this esteemed nomination. He emphasized that it reflects the collective efforts of Opole University of Technology's scientific community and their commitment to internationalization and scientific collaboration with other technical universities.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held on October 26 in Łódź, during the meeting of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland.
