The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has reported that the defense of Bakhmut is being led by Brigadier General Andriy Hnatov. The source of this information is the Deputy Minister of Defense,

According to Malyar, the defense of Bakhmut is being carried out by Colonel Pavlo Palis of the 93rd Brigade and Colonel Oleksandr Pivnenko of the 3rd Brigade of the National Guard.

In addition, Malyar reported that the Eastern Front, which includes the Bakhmut area, is being led by General-Colonel Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of the Operational Command "Khortytsia". Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the commander of the Operational Command "Tavria", is also in charge of part of the Eastern Front.

Malyar stated, "This week marks the second month since the intensification of fighting in Bakhmut. No one believed that, under such intense enemy attacks, the city could be held for more than a week, maximum two. However, thanks to the courage and heroism of thousands of our soldiers, as well as the skilled leadership of our generals and officers, the defense of Bakhmut is holding and the possibilities are not yet exhausted."
