On March 7, 2024, China declared that it would grant visa-free travel privileges to citizens of Belgium, along with several other European nations, starting from March 14. Foreign Minister Wang

Yi made the announcement during a press conference, revealing that travellers from Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, and Luxembourg would also enjoy visa-free entry to China.

Yi specified that China's visa-free policy for these six countries would be implemented on a trial basis. Under this policy, Belgian citizens planning trips to China lasting no more than 15 days would no longer need to undergo the visa application process.

This visa waiver applies to various purposes of travel, including business, tourism, visiting family and friends, and transit. Notably, several other European countries, such as France, Germany, and Italy, had previously been granted similar visa-free privileges for travel to China. Photo by Jakub Hałun, Wikimedia commons.
