Over the course of the previous year, a total of 2,491 individuals were denied entry into the Netherlands by the Koninklijke Marechaussee, as they failed to meet the necessary entry

requirements. Reasons for refusal included a lack of required travel documents or visas, as well as posing a perceived risk to national security or public order.

Notably, 115 individuals from the United Kingdom were among those unable to enter the Netherlands in the past year. Following Brexit, U.K. residents no longer enjoy unrestricted access to the Netherlands or other European Union countries.

Colombian nationals (479) experienced the highest number of entry refusals to the Netherlands in the previous year, with individuals from India (223), Peru (219), and Brazil (152) also facing similar denials.

The majority of these entry refusals occurred at Dutch airports, totaling 2,403 cases. Additionally, the Koninklijke Marechaussee turned away 82 individuals at seaports and rejected six people attempting to enter the Netherlands by train.
