According to the national statistics office CBS, inflation in June dropped to 5.7% following a slight increase in May. Excluding fuel and energy, which experienced a decrease in prices, inflation

stood at 7.2%, down from 7.9% in May. The cost of petrol and diesel declined by 23% compared to June 2022.

In June, food prices saw a 13% increase, slightly lower than the 15% rise observed in May.

The CBS has introduced a new method for calculating energy prices in its inflation assessments. It now considers actual prices paid by consumers for gas and electricity, rather than relying on prices for new contracts. This change aims to provide a more accurate reflection of energy price trends. Photo by Velela at English Wikipedia.
