The statistics office in Poland has reported that inflation in March was at 16.1% on a year-on-year basis, as estimated on Friday. This figure is marginally lower by 0.1

percentage points from the flash estimate released by Statistics Poland (GUS) at the end of the previous month. According to GUS, consumer goods and services prices in February 2023 were 18.4% higher than the prices in the same period the previous year, while in January, the consumer price index in Poland was at 17.2%.

The central bank governor, Adam Glapiński, has predicted that inflation would reduce to single digits by the end of 2023. In the latest Inflation Report released on March 10, the central bank estimated inflation to average 11.9% this year, followed by 5.7% in 2024 and 3.5% in 2025. The Monetary Policy Council of the bank had recently maintained key interest rates, keeping the reference rate at 6.75%.
