As summer approaches, Austria's ÖBB gears up for extensive construction activities in the eastern region, leading to adjustments in train schedules along certain routes.

Between June 29th and September 2nd, ÖBB will implement a revised timetable for select railway lines in Vienna and Lower Austria, the company announced on Tuesday. Notably, travelers will encounter alterations and temporary disruptions during this period.

Major changes include the suspension of train services between Floridsdorf and Praterstern, with a substitution of rail services by buses. Additionally, a reduced train frequency will be observed between Praterstern and Liesing. Commuters can utilize selected alternative routes provided by Wiener Linien with valid ÖBB tickets.

For the REX1 line (Floridsdorf—Gänserndorf—Břeclav route), trains will be rerouted at longer intervals via Vienna Stadlau and Vienna Simmering. Services for other destinations north of Vienna will either commence or terminate at Floridsdorf or be canceled altogether.

On the S1 line, trains traveling to/from Marchegg will experience cancellations between Vienna Süßenbrunn and Marchegg. A replacement bus service will be in operation between Vienna Süßenbrunn and Gänserndorf, with hourly extensions of S1 trains to/from Marchegg.

Furthermore, adjustments are slated for the southern line between Vienna and Wiener Neustadt Hbf. Services between Bad Vöslau and Leobersdorf will be temporarily suspended, with long-distance trains diverted accordingly.

Passengers on the CJX9 line can expect deviations between Vienna Central Station and Wiener Neustadt, leading to cancellations of stops at Vienna Matzleinsdorfer Platz and Baden.

To ensure seamless travel amid these changes, ÖBB will organize replacement bus services for specific route segments, including Leobersdorf - Bad Vöslau, Leobersdorf - Mödling for suburban trains, and Wiener Neustadt Hbf - Felixdorf for R95 line trains.

To facilitate traveler awareness and provide comprehensive information regarding alternative routes and schedules, ÖBB will launch an extensive information campaign in May. This initiative will encompass advertisements in various media outlets, informative posters at railway stations, customer guides, and distribution campaigns for informational brochures before and during the construction period.

Affected municipalities and residents will receive electronic or postal notifications regarding potential disruptions such as noise, dust, and increased traffic due to construction activities.
