As of the last 24 hours, Poland has received approximately 23,600 individuals from Ukraine, as confirmed by Polish border guards on Thursday.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, a total of 16.47 million people have entered Poland from Ukraine, according to reports from the Polish Border Guard agency. In the same period, around 14.66 million people have left Poland for Ukraine.
On the previous day, approximately 22,300 individuals crossed from Poland into Ukraine, as reported by the border guards.
Poland's President, Andrzej Duda, noted earlier this year that the country is now home to an estimated 3 million Ukrainians, including those who arrived prior to the conflict. In March of the preceding year, Poland introduced a measure offering extensive support to Ukrainian refugees who fled the Russian invasion. This measure encompasses granting residence rights and ensuring access to education, healthcare, and social benefits.
A recent survey indicated that 65% of Poles are supportive of accepting refugees from Ukraine. Russia initiated its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, marking the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
