Poland has seen an influx of approximately 30,000 individuals entering the country from Ukraine within the past 24 hours, as reported by Polish border guards on Monday.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, a staggering 12.79 million people have crossed the border from Ukraine into Poland, according to the Polish Border Guard agency. In the same period, around 10.94 million individuals have departed from Poland to Ukraine, reflecting the dynamic movement between the two nations.
The Polish President, Andrzej Duda, disclosed in an interview with Polish Radio in April that an estimated 3 million Ukrainians, including pre-war arrivals, have found refuge in Poland. In March, the Polish presidential office further indicated that approximately 1.3 million war refugees from Ukraine had chosen to stay in Poland, while others had sought sanctuary in different countries or decided to return to Ukraine.
In response to the Russian invasion, Poland implemented measures last year to provide comprehensive support for Ukrainians fleeing the conflict. These measures encompass residence rights, access to education, healthcare, and social benefits.
According to a recent survey, 73% of Poles are in favor of accepting refugees from war-torn Ukraine, highlighting a significant level of public support.
