During the second quarter of the year in Portugal, there were a total of 33,624 residential property transactions, out of which 31,089 were bought by residents.
This indicates a year-on-year decrease of 23.8% and a 2.8% drop compared to the previous quarter, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Notably, during this period, the number of properties sold to buyers residing outside Portugal decreased by 8.9%, totaling 2,535 units, accounting for 7.5% of the overall transactions. This percentage is the highest recorded since the series began in the first quarter of 2019.
Interestingly, when examining foreign transactions, buyers residing in other countries experienced an increase in purchases by 10.8%, totaling 1,361 homes.
The total amount invested in property acquisitions by residents in Portugal exceeded 6.0 billion euros. Additionally, foreign citizens from the EU invested 349.2 million euros, while those from other countries invested 522.1 million euros.
