The President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, has touched down in Ukraine for a two-day visit, as reported by Portuguese media.
According to the Lusa agency, the Portuguese Head of State arrived in Kyiv at 07:30 at the Kyiv-Passenger railway station, accompanied by Foreign Minister João Gomes Cravinho.
President de Sousa expressed his solidarity with Ukraine and highlighted his participation in the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on Thursday.
Shortly after disembarking at the Kyiv-Passenger railway station, de Sousa stated, "The Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs have been here several times, now the President of the Republic has arrived. Portugal demonstrates its solidarity in all areas."
De Sousa also announced his plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Thursday. Additionally, he will participate in a summit focused on Crimea.
The president's schedule includes a visit to an institution dedicated to addressing the grave issue of Ukrainian children separated from their families due to war or orphanhood.
