Emirates, the renowned airline, is set to recommence its operations in Porto during the next financial year, spanning from April 2024 to March 2025. This decision is considered a crucial piece of
the puzzle for Emirates in Portugal, as it ensures the airline's presence throughout the country. The four weekly flights connecting Porto and Dubai, which were disrupted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are scheduled to be reinstated.
David Quito, the country manager for Emirates in Portugal, emphasized the significance of this route's resumption, stating that "we expect Porto to be relaunched next year because it is a destination in Portugal that will complete this missing piece."
Furthermore, Emirates is gearing up for the Porto-Dubai flights with a fleet of new aircraft, the A350s, to be introduced next year. Quito revealed that this addition marks a significant development for Emirates, as the airline's fleet has remained relatively unchanged in recent years, primarily consisting of A380s and Boeing 777s. The A350s, however, bring a fresh perspective with their three-class configuration, catering to business, economy premium, and economy travelers.
On a positive note, David Quito also celebrated the ongoing success of Emirates' Lisbon route, underscoring the record-breaking occupancy rates achieved in October, particularly in the first and business class categories. He added that Portugal remains a favored destination for various Asian markets, including India, China, Korea, Taiwan, and Australia.
