non-Belgian European citizens. In 2023, the city reported 287,590 individuals with non-Belgian European nationality, comprising 23.2% of its population.
France leads as the most represented country in Brussels, with 69,984 nationals. Romania follows closely with 46,572 nationals, showcasing a remarkable threefold increase since 2010. Italy secures the third position with 35,929 nationals.
Malta, Cyprus, and Estonia emerge as the least represented EU member states, each having fewer than 1,000 citizens residing in the Brussels-Capital Region.
