On Saturday, hundreds of individuals gathered in the city of Zurich to express their dissatisfaction with the housing market's current state. The demonstrators embarked on a peaceful march

from Turbinenplatz to Helvetiaplatz, addressing issues such as the housing shortage, exorbitant rents, and capitalism in general during various speeches.

It is worth noting that the protest remained nonviolent, with no significant damage to property or confrontations with law enforcement. Demonstrators symbolically destroyed a "rent shark" prop they had brought with them.

The police primarily focused on securing the streets leading to the railway station and permitted the authorized protest to proceed through districts 4 and 5. The demonstration lasted for over three hours, concluding at Helvetiaplatz around 6 p.m. However, the event led to disruptions in traffic and various bus and tram lines for an extended period.

Several flares were ignited during the rally, with expressions of discontent directed at capitalism, and participants chanting slogans against the police. The protest featured several floats and tractors.

Prominently displayed banners conveyed the demonstrators' demands for accessible housing for all and the dismantling of capitalism. Furthermore, costly rental properties along the route were adorned with spray-painted messages. Photo by Eluveitie, Wikimedia commons.
